Job summary

Qualifications

• Required: High School diploma
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field
• 3 years scheduling experience required (or related)
• 1 year supervisory experience preferred
• Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks
• Strong communication with physicians, patients and staff

Responsibilities

• Schedules clinical procedures to promote high-quality care, including scheduling the correct procedure, site and supplies.
• Schedules and registers patients by phone, considering diagnosis, resources, equipment, patient availability, insurance and physician orders.
• Obtains and enters all necessary information from physician offices requesting operating room or procedure room time.
• Communicates patient needs and resource requirements to ensure availability prior to scheduling.
• Maintains productivity and prioritizes work activities; responds to high or low volume with a positive attitude.
• Allows adequate time for each procedure including physician requests, room turnover and other scheduling aspects.
• Identifies solutions to improve scheduling efficiency and practice.
• Validates credentials of providers.
• Works with Hospital Directors and leadership to manage block time and capacity utilization.
