Qualifications

• Active AHIMA or AAPC credential (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCA/COC/CCS-P/CPC).
• Two years of hands-on coding experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology; ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS coding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Select and sequence ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes for hospital, clinic, and physician pro fee data.
• Review facility records to ensure APC assignments reflect documented diagnoses/procedures.
• Abstract data from records to support diagnoses and discharge disposition.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
