Job summary

RTX, a leader in aerospace and defense, seeks a Sr. Principal Engineer, Lead Project Engineering to oversee production transitions for small military turbo jet engines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the planning and execution of production transition activities for new small military turbo jet engine products, establishing best manufacturing processes and quality controls.
• Provide SIPT support to develop and deliver complex engine systems across development to production transitions.
• Act as SME and advisor to engineering leadership; lead root cause investigations for engine/component failures and define corrective actions.
• Lead and coordinate testing of small engine systems, including performance and certification testing to meet regulatory and customer requirements.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery and compliance with specifications.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation for manufacturing challenges.
• Lead or support cost reduction and production yield improvement initiatives and related engineering changes (PCIR).
• Dispositions Quality Notifications and Supplier Required Information records.
• Champion continuous improvement, transfer knowledge, establish best practices, and adopt new tools and technologies.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and lead cross-functional technical teams.
