Job summary

BECU is seeking a Principal Solutions Engineer to shape the future of its lending and credit card platforms. You will bridge architecture and engineering, delivering scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that enhance member experiences and drive modernization across critical systems.

You will mentor engineers, influence enterprise design decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technology with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience required.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with public cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
• Demonstrated experience with enterprise architecture and API design.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and SOA patterns.
• Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead Solution Design: deliver enterprise-scale solutions for lending and credit card platforms.
• Architect for scale: translate needs into detailed designs with performance and security in mind.
• Drive modernization: simplify systems and improve platform architecture and speed.
• Shape cloud-first solutions: design cloud-ready financial solutions for growth.
• Partner across teams: collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Guide API and integration strategy: develop APIs and integrations for core experiences.
• Support production excellence: analyze issues and improve stability.
• Build prototypes and PoCs to advance technology capabilities.
• Influence technical direction to improve member experiences and outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and elevate others: provide technical leadership and reviews.
• Champion best practices: stay current on architecture trends and engineering practices.
• Communicate with impact: present concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
