Job summary

BECU is seeking a Principal Solutions Engineer to drive the modernization of its lending and credit card technology ecosystem. You will bridge architecture with engineering, delivering scalable, secure solutions for millions of member interactions and internal partners.

You will mentor engineers, lead enterprise designs, and shape technical direction while collaborating across teams to improve production stability and accelerate new capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience is required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with financial products (credit cards, mortgages, loans, deposits) required; UX, integration, and API expertise.
• Experience with public cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS offerings.
• Experience leading multiple teams on enterprise-wide initiatives and SDLC.
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles and distributed systems design.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor engineers and provide architectural guidance across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-scale solution design for lending and credit card platforms.
• Translate business needs into detailed technical designs meeting performance and security requirements.
• Drive modernization by simplifying systems and improving platform architectures.
• Lead cloud-first solutions with modern architectures and integrations.
• Collaborate with architects, delivery teams, and stakeholders to drive execution.
• Design, develop, and troubleshoot APIs and enterprise integrations for key experiences.
• Analyze production challenges and improve operational stability while handling project work.
• Create prototypes and proofs-of-concept to advance technology capabilities.
• Influence technical direction to enhance member experiences and outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and elevate technical leadership across teams.
• Stay current with industry best practices to drive innovation at BECU.
• Communicate effectively to align technical and business audiences.
