Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer, Plastics Molding, to lead enterprise-level molding initiatives across pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, and biologics in a hybrid role. You will guide complex projects from concept through qualification and validation, ensuring compliant, scalable molding solutions with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 8–10 years of engineering experience in regulated industries, expertise in injection/blow molding, DOE, FMEA, SPC, and strong

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering required.
8–10 years engineering/operational experience in regulated industry.
3+ years plastic injection molding and/or blow molding design & process support.

Responsibilities

Lead medium- to large-sized molding projects from concept through qualification and validation.
Develop injection- and blow-molding solutions meeting product, process, quality, cost, and regulatory expectations.
Provide technical direction on equipment, tooling, automation, resin selection, process development, inspection strategy, and manufacturing readiness.
Conduct risk assessments, manage life-cycle costs, and communicate recommendations and risk-based decisions to management.
Support supplier selection, performance, and technical issue resolution for molds, equipment, and services.
