Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer, Plastics Molding, to provide enterprise‑level technical leadership in injection and blow molding for pharmaceutical manufacturing and related products. You will drive complex molding programs from concept through qualification, partnering with internal teams and suppliers to deliver compliant, scalable solutions.

The role requires deep plastics process knowledge, DOE/DFMEA and ISO/regulatory expertise, with a focus on manufacturability and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent technical experience.
• 8–10 years in engineering/manufacturing, pharma/medical devices preferred.
• 3+ years in plastic injection/blow molding design/process support.
• Knowledge of molding equipment, resins, tooling, inspection, SPC and regulatory/ISO requirements.
• Experience with tooling/automation design, procurement, qualification, supplier management, FMEA, DOE, validation, metrology, and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead large molding projects from concept to qualification and support.
• Develop injection and blow-molding solutions meeting product, quality, cost and regulatory expectations.
• Provide direction on equipment, tooling, automation, resin selection, process development, inspection and manufacturing readiness.
• Conduct risk assessments and communicate project status and risk-based decisions to management.
• Support supplier selection, performance and issue resolution for molds and related services.
