Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to lead plastics molding initiatives across pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, and biologics. You will drive complex projects from concept to validation, directing tooling, automation, resin selection, and process development while partnering with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

The role requires a strong track record in injection/blow molding, FMEA/DOE/SPC, and GMP-/ISO-compliant practices, with a hybrid work setup in North Chicago,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Plastics Engineering or related field.
10+ years of significant engineering experience in regulated environments.
3+ years in plastic injection/blow molding design and support.

Responsibilities

Lead complex molding projects from concept through qualification and validation.
Develop injection- and blow-molding solutions meeting quality, cost, and regulatory needs.
Provide direction on equipment, tooling, automation, and resin selection.
Support supplier selection, performance, and technical issue resolution.
Communicate project status and risk-based decisions to management.
