Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Senior Principal FPGA Design Engineer to lead FPGA architecture and design across vendors, implementing with VHDL/Verilog for RF, EO DSP, and embedded processing. Onsite requirement and DoD clearance are integral to the role.

The candidate will collaborate with circuit card designers and systems engineers, drive requirements through verification and documentation, and lead junior engineers as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• System-level FPGA requirements specification and architecture development.
• Proposal experience including basis of estimate generation and schedule planning.
• Strong design hand-off requirements for system requirements, configurable logic, software, and tests.
• FPGA/ASIC design (VHDL/Verilog) or verification (SystemVerilog).
• Xilinx or Microsemi devices and flow tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead FPGA-based systems architecture and design, determining parts, interfaces, and CONOPS.
• Establish processes and operational plans for projects.
• Independently drive projects to schedule and budget.
• May lead large teams on multi-year programs.
• Design, develop, implement, and verify highly complex configurable logic solutions.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and leadership.
• Translate system requirements into FPGA requirements.
• Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability.
• Verify designs with directed and constrained random tests and coverage.
• Create complete documentation including requirements and verification plans.
