Job summary

Klaviyo is seeking a senior technical leader to own enterprise scalability, performance, reliability, and multi-region readiness. Reporting to a VP of Engineering, you will be a senior individual contributor, leading through hands-on engineering and cross-team collaboration to deliver improvements for our largest customers.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering experience in scalable SaaS.
• Hands-on performance engineering and capacity planning.
• Experience with multi-region architectures.
• Strong judgment on architectural tradeoffs.
• Ability to align teams toward shared outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Practical AI fluency in engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

• Define scale readiness targets, including latency, throughput, error rates, and capacity.
• Remove bottlenecks using production data and benchmarks; verify improvements.
• Drive architectural changes: sharding, caching, back‑pressure, isolation.
• Make scale engineering repeatable with benchmarks and test environments.
• Build readiness into delivery with scalable release gates.
• Turn incidents into lasting improvements via deep dives.
• Apply AI tools to profiling and incident response with guardrails.
• Connect engineering decisions to customer needs and outcomes.
