Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Senior Principal Embedded & Real Time Software Engineer to design, develop, and test embedded software for flight-critical systems.

The role requires expertise in C/C++, Python, and RTOS environments (VxWorks, Integrity). You will work in a fast-paced, Agile setting with multi-disciplinary teams across San Diego, El Segundo, or Palmdale, CA, and you must maintain Top Secret clearance with SAP/PAR access as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8+ years of related engineering experience, or higher degrees with fewer years.
• Experience with full SW development life cycle (SDLC).
• Experience with C, C++, Python in embedded RTOS environments.
• Experience building multi-threaded software for flight/mission-critical systems.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, Coverity.
• Experience in Agile software development and embedded system programming.
• Proficiency with data interfaces and real-time OS like VxWorks or Integrity.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate and test embedded real-time software.
• Lead architecture, development, integration and testing across multidisciplinary teams.
• Work in Agile Scrum environments on multiple software baselines.
• Maintain and troubleshoot SW in flight and mission-critical contexts.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers and test engineers.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. government security clearances and SAP/PAR requirements.
