Job summary

Advanced Energy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of power conversion products. You will lead engineers, work with customers to define requirements, and guide research to validate concepts while interfacing with senior professionals.

You will apply design and reliability methodologies, mentor peers, and ensure compliance with medical device standards. Travel up to 10% is required in this role.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in power electronics engineering.
• Experience with Switch Mode Power Supplies / Power Electronics.
• Proven professional skills as an experienced engineer with a full understanding of medical practices and company policies/procedures.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems independently.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide technical mentoring other team members.
• Experience with influencing and negotiating in complex situations.
• AC/DC and DC/DC switched mode power supply design.
• EMI and EMC design and resolution.
• Magnetic Design.
• Designing for Safety and Compliance (Medical background a plus).
• Understanding of firmware and coding.
• Designing for thermals.
• Familiarity with IEC60601-2-2.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design and analysis of systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
• Responsible to diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommend/implement corrective actions to address
• Assume responsibility for the success of the product/system in the customers' applications and recommend/implement corrective actions as needed
• Follow key engineering procedures in the Product Development Process and ECO process
• Work with manufacturing locations and supply chain groups to implement cost reductions, manufacturability improvements, and quality improvements for existing products
