Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems seeks a Sr. Principal Design Engineer to lead structural analyses of metal, non-metallic, or composite airframe components.

The role requires evaluating damage tolerance, durability and vibration analyses, using tools like Nastran, Patran, FEMAP, and CATIA. Responsibilities include translating requirements into detailed subsystem specs, performing trade studies, and authoring design documentation.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering with related experience; PhD with relevant experience also considered.
• Proficiency with CAD/drafting tools and engineering drawings.
• Strong requirements development and management practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop subsystem components meeting performance, weight, and reliability requirements.
• Translate system-level requirements into subsystem specifications and drawings.
• Perform trade studies and analyses (stress, aeroelasticity, thermal, vibration).
• Create and maintain technical documentation and BOMs.
• Support integration with other engineering disciplines and testing activities.
• Lead risk assessments and contribute to program reviews.
