Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautic Systems seeks a Sr. Principal Design Engineer to develop and analyze structural components for airframe subsystems.

You will work in an IPT, translating system requirements into detailed designs and drawings while performing stress, thermal and vibration analyses to validate concepts. The role requires CAD proficiency, experience with CATIA/NX/SolidWorks, and a Secret clearance or eligibility.

Qualifications

BS or higher in aerospace, mechanical, or civil engineering with extensive structural analysis experience.
Proficiency with CAD and drafting tools and creation of engineering drawings and BOMs.
Strong requirements development, management practices and tool familiarity.
Experience with subsystem test planning, execution and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Active USG Secret clearance with ongoing PAR/SAP access requirements.

Responsibilities

Design and develop subsystem components meeting performance, weight and reliability targets.
Translate system requirements into detailed subsystem specs and drawings.
Carry out trade studies and simulations (stress, aeroelasticity, thermal, vibration) to justify designs.
Create and maintain documentation including schematics, BOMs, test plans, and verification matrices.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure compatibility and compliance.
Plan and analyze subsystem tests and address deficiencies through corrective actions.
Contribute to configuration management, design reviews and risk assessments.
