Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Senior Principal Systems Engineer in Cedar Rapids to own avionics systems engineering across the lifecycle. You will define, design, develop, integrate and test features for OEM aircraft platforms and support flight tests and certification activities.

Ideal candidates have advanced avionics knowledge, proven leadership of integrated product teams, and experience with ARP-4754, DO-178B/C, DO-160, and regulatory interfaces.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of avionics systems on civilian commercial aircraft.
• Experience leading avionics engineering development phases.
• Proven track record leading customer-facing engineering teams.
• Experience interacting with commercial aircraft OEMs and regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities spanning the full development life cycle from design through testing and delivery.
• Capture requirements from aircraft OEMs and allocate to Collins Aerospace domains.
• Develop innovative design approaches and prototypes for avionics systems.
• Lead design reviews and communicate solutions to customers and OEMs.
• Prepare certification artifacts and ensure DO-178/ARP-4754 compliance.
• Guide cross-functional teams and manage scope, schedule, and cost.
