RTX in Cedar Rapids is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer – Embedded Linux to design, develop, and maintain Linux-based environments for airborne systems. You will build kernels, BSPs, and device drivers, lead embedded Linux activities, and collaborate across global teams from concept through certification and deployment.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in STEM and 5+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access program information.
• Proficient Linux command-line experience.
• Embedded C/C++ development experience.
• Scripting with Bash and Python.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and target hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance embedded Linux environments including build toolchains, kernels, and BSPs for airborne hardware.
• Provide technical leadership for embedded Linux development, including planning, coding, integration, testing, and sustainment.
• Lead hardware–software integration and perform root-cause analyses for system issues.
• Prepare software builds for simulation, reference platforms, and target hardware; align with engineering processes and safety standards.
• Generate estimates for changes and contribute to Agile planning and execution.
