Job summary

RR Donnelley in Durham, NC seeks a Printing and Bindery Specialist (Army MOS 83F) to preflight and format client files, adjust layouts for paper dimensions, and prepare plates for press using Mac/PC software. You will ensure color accuracy and collaborate with customer service and production teams.

Responsibilities include loading files, performing color proofs, operating CTP equipment, and training teammates. Competitive hourly pay with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Must work with graphic design and layout software on Mac & PC.
• Thorough understanding of digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) from Mac/PC.
• Experience with imposition software (Mac) and Adobe Creative Suite (PC) preferred.
• Advanced color management skills and ability to work with different digital file formats.
• Must be able to output digital files to various output devices and learn new graphics software.
• Understanding of offset printing process and how one color affects another.
• Mechanical skills to repair and maintain small printing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Review client files for completeness before plate making.
• Use desktop publishing software to adjust print layouts to paper size.
• Determine page layout considering folds, trims, bleeds, and color bars.
• Identify missing/problematic components and inform CS Rep and production.
• Collaborate with CS Rep, customer and production to resolve issues.
• Load customer files for output during manufacturing.
• May prepare color proofs for customer review.
• May operate CTP plate making and bending/tabbing equipment.
• Perform quality checks on plates before release to manufacturing.
• Train and support new and existing team members.
