Job summary

RR Donnelley in Timonium is seeking a Printing and Bindery Specialist for first shift. Responsibilities include preparing files for plate making, formatting layouts, and coordinating with Customer Service and production to ensure accurate outputs.

Applicants should be proficient with Mac/PC graphic design software, understand digital formats (PDF/TIFF/EPS), and have knowledge of offset printing; mechanical tool skills are needed for minor equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience with Mac/PC graphic design software.
• Strong understanding of digital file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS) across Mac/PC.
• Knowledge of the offset printing process and how one color affects another.
• Ability to output digital files to various output devices and learn new graphics software.

Responsibilities

• Review client files for completeness before the plate making process.
• Use desktop publishing software to format print jobs to paper dimensions.
• Determine page layout with folds, trims, bleeds and gripper; add crop marks and color bars.
• Identify missing or problematic components and communicate with Customer Service Reps, customers, and production staff.
• Collaborate with Customer Service Reps, customers, and production staff to resolve job issues.
• Load customer files onto the Pre-Press file server.
• Create electronic images of pages for manufacturing proofs used by Press and Bind operators.
• May prepare color proofs for customer review.
