Job summary

RR Donnelley in Saint Charles, MO, seeks an experienced Printing and Bindery Specialist for the 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 6:30 AM–3 PM). You will review client files, adjust layouts with desktop publishing tools, determine page layouts, and add crop marks and color bars for plate making.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Customer Service and production, loading files, creating color proofs, and operating plate and related equipment. Strong color management and Prinergy experience are required.

Qualifications

• Mac experience required in a manufacturing environment.
• Process color experience required; color correction and proofing a plus.
• Process color and reproduction experience required.
• Work with Mac and PC graphic design and layout software.
• Two to Three years of Kodak Prinergy experience.
• Understanding digital file formats (pdf, tiff, eps) on Mac/PC.
• Imposition software (Mac) and Adobe Creative Suite (PC) preferred.
• Advanced color management skills and ability to work with different digital file formats.
• Ability to output digital files to various output devices; willingness to learn new software.
• Understanding of offset printing and color interactions.
• Mechanical skills for repairs and maintenance on printing equipment.
• Train others in new processes and lean methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Review client files for thoroughness before plate making.
• Use electronic page layout software to adjust print job format to paper size.
• Determine layout with folds, trims, bleeds, gripper; add crop marks and color bars as needed.
• Identify and communicate missing or problematic components to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Customer Service and production to resolve issues.
• Load customer files for output during manufacturing.
• May prepare color proofs for customer review.
• May impose images and operate CTP plate making and bending/tabbing equipment.
• Perform quality checks on finished plates before releasing to manufacturing.
