Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2-year technical degree or certification preferred.
• 1+ years of print or graphic design experience.
• Proficiency with graphic design and layout software on Mac and PC.
• Strong understanding of digital file formats (PDF, TIFF, EPS) across Mac/PC.
• Experience with Imposition software (Mac) and Adobe Creative Suite (PC).
• Advanced color management skills preferred.
• Ability to output digital files to various output devices.
• Understanding of the printing process.
• Mechanical skills for minor repairs using hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Impose images and operate plate making equipment to prepare plates for press.
• Review plates for defects or errors.
• Create flexographic and lithographic plates from digital files.
• Replenish materials in automatic plate processors and perform light maintenance.
• May maintain inventory for plate making materials.
• Review client-provided files for completeness before plate making.
• Manipulate print job formats using desktop publishing software.
• Determine page layout with folds, trims, and crop marks.
