Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Project Manager to lead preconstruction activities for large-scale renewable energy projects from development through EPC readiness. This role collaborates with Development, Estimating, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and external EPCs to define scope, cost, schedule, procurement, and risk strategies.

The successful candidate will influence investment decisions, ensure alignment across functions, and drive smooth handoffs from development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
• Significant professional experience in renewable energy project development, preconstruction, estimating, or construction management.
• Understanding of utility-scale project lifecycle, including feasibility, permitting, entitlements, design, interconnection, procurement, EPC contracting, and construction execution.
• Experience supporting EPC solicitations, bid evaluations, cost reviews, and project risk assessments.
• Proficiency with project scheduling, cost estimation, and executive-level reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction engagement for assigned projects and establish scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and execution strategy.
• Assess project maturity across permitting, entitlements, interconnection, design, procurement, logistics, and constructability.
• Identify risks and opportunities, develop mitigation plans with cross-functional teams, and communicate impacts clearly.
• Provide executive-ready project tracking and milestone reporting.
• Support due diligence, opportunity assessments, and red-flag memoranda for potential projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and best practices.
• Mentor colleagues and promote safety, integrity, accountability, inclusion, and collaboration.
