Job summary

AES Corporation recruits a Senior Preconstruction Project Manager to lead preconstruction activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects from development through execution readiness.

The role partners across Development, Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, Construction, Finance, and EPC contractors to establish executable scope, cost, schedule, and risk strategies, influencing project decisions and delivering clean energy at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline required.
• Significant professional experience in renewable energy project development, preconstruction, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, or project management.
• Demonstrated understanding of the utility-scale project lifecycle, including feasibility, permitting, interconnection, procurement, EPC contracting, and construction execution.
• Experience supporting EPC solicitations, bid evaluations, commercial negotiations, cost reviews, and project risk assessments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera P6, Procore, Quickbase, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam, or comparable tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction engagement for assigned projects and align scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and execution strategy.
• Assess project maturity across permitting, entitlements, site control, interconnection, design, procurement, logistics, and constructability.
• Identify risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate impacts clearly.
• Provide executive-ready project tracking and reporting on milestones, priorities, and dependencies.
• Support bids, due diligence, and supplier communications for EPC contracts.
• Mentor colleagues and drive continuous improvement across preconstruction and procurement processes.
