Job summary

AES Corporation, a leading US-based power company, seeks a Senior Preconstruction Project Manager to oversee preconstruction activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects. You will coordinate across Development, Estimating, Procurement, Construction, and external EPCs to define scope, cost, schedule, and risk strategies.

You will drive investment-quality decisions, align cross-functional teams, and ensure a smooth handoff from development to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
• Significant professional experience in renewable energy project development, preconstruction, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, or project management.
• Demonstrated understanding of utility-scale project lifecycle (feasibility, permitting, interconnection, procurement, EPC contracting, construction).
• Experience supporting EPC solicitations, bid evaluations, and negotiations.
• Proficiency with industry tools (MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Primavera P6, Procore).

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction engagement for assigned projects and align scope, schedule, deliverables, risks, and execution strategy.
• Assess project maturity across permitting, entitlements, site control, interconnection, design, procurement, logistics, and constructability.
• Identify risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate impacts clearly.
• Provide executive-ready reporting on milestones, priorities, workload, and dependencies.
• Support due diligence, opportunity assessments, and red-flag memoranda for potential projects.
• Mentor colleagues and promote standardization and continuous improvement.
