Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead the SBU's pre-construction activities and oversee estimating and planning support personnel. You will monitor budgets, assist in cost modeling, and collaborate with marketing, clients, and project teams to ensure profitable, on-time outcomes.

The role requires strong communication, budget management, and leadership skills, with a focus on reliable cost information and scope development.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience.
• Five years construction-related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret business publications, procedures and regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to present information to managers, clients and the public.
• Knowledge of estimating processes and budgeting.
• Proficient PC skills including email, databases, and MS Office.
• Experience with CMiC and estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction activities for the SBU and deliver predictable outcomes.
• Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
• Monitor budgeting and buy-out processes for reliable estimates.
• Communicate cost history for pricing evaluation and modeling.
• Plan training for estimators and business development staff.
• Oversee sales activities including leads, procurement strategies and RFQ responses.
• Interface with marketing to align information and branding.
• Identify new scope and profit centers and oversee related operations.
• Drive productivity and cost control on SBU projects.
• Attend project reviews and resolve budget issues.
