Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Senior Pre-Construction Manager to lead the SBU's pre-construction activities, drive estimating and planning support, and ensure cost-effective project delivery.

You will supervise estimating and BD teams, monitor budgets, and facilitate communication across marketing, clients, and project teams. This role demands extensive experience with large-scale projects and strong leadership in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field.
• Experience leading large projects ($500M+), ideally in mission critical, healthcare or industrial sectors.
• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing preconstruction teams.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, journals, technical procedures and government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and manuals.
• Ability to present information to groups of managers, clients and the public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
• Proficient PC skills and data handling.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-construction activities for the SBU.
• Provide leadership for estimating and planning support personnel.
• Monitor budgeting and buy-out processes for reliable estimates.
• Communicate cost history for better pricing models.
• Monitor planning support for efficient resource use.
• Interface with marketing to consider brand and client info.
• Assist in evaluating new scope of services and profit centers.
• Monitor productivity and cost control on SBU projects.
• Attend project reviews and resolve budget issues.
• Plan training for estimators, planning support and project engineers.
• Identify and procure profitable projects via client relationships and BD activities.
• Oversee sales activities including leads, procurement strategies, RFQ/SOQ/RFPs.
• Set goals, procedures, systems and tools for sales/marketing tasks.
• Commit in project procurement for SBU projects.
• Participate in team environment and contribute to goals.
• Supervise Estimating and BD activities and personnel.
