Job summary

Layton Construction in Utah seeks a Senior Pre-Construction Manager to lead pre-construction activities for the SBU, driving estimating, planning and cost control across large projects. The role emphasizes integrity, safety and quality, coordinating with marketing and client teams to secure profitable projects and deliver predictable outcomes.

You will oversee estimating and planning support personnel, guide procurement strategies, and train staff while maintaining strong client relationships

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Marketing and/or Communication or related field.
• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading large projects ($500M+).
• Experience managing preconstruction teams.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business materials.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
• Ability to present information to managers, clients and the public.
• Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions.
• Proficient PC skills including email, databases, word processing and spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor budgeting and buy-out to ensure reliable estimates.
• Facilitate cost history communication for better pricing models.
• Oversee planning support processes and resource use.
• Interface with marketing for branding considerations.
• Assist in evaluating and planning new scope of services and profit centers.
• Monitor productivity and cost control on projects.
• Attend reviews and resolve budget issues.
• Plan training for estimators and project engineers.
• Oversee business development, client relationships and proposals.
• Lead sales activities, procurement strategies, RFQs and RFPs.
• Set goals, procedures and tools for sales/marketing tasks.
• Commit to procurement processes for SBU projects.
• Collaborate to achieve team goals.
