Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Pre-Sales Applications Engineer for robotic welding and automated systems in the Pewaukee, WI area. This direct-hire, first-shift role is 100% on-site with light travel for technical discovery and proposal presentations.

The candidate will lead technical feasibility, architect welding automation concepts, and develop compelling technical proposals alongside sales and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical expertise in welding automation, pre-sales application engineering, or robotic systems integration.
• Solid understanding of GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG processes and how metallurgy affects automation feasibility.
• Proficiency in reviewing or drafting cell layouts using CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Strong communication skills to interface with client engineering teams and plant leadership.
• US citizenship or green card holder residing within a reasonable commuting radius of Pewaukee, WI.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical feasibility as the primary pre-sales contact, reviewing parts and drawings to assess weld feasibility and scope.
• Architect welding automation concepts, specify processes and tooling, and design cell layouts (FANUC/ABB).
• Develop technical proposals with sales and engineering teams, including layouts, cycle times, and BOMs.
• Coordinate weld sample evaluations, process trials, and feasibility testing prior to contract.
• Travel to customer facilities (~15% domestically/internationally) to gather requirements and present solutions.
• Ensure weld processes meet AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX standards and customer specs.
