Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager in Chicago to lead major pursuits, set pricing, cost tracking, and early execution planning for the Global Practice. You will coordinate with EPC PMs, construction partners, and regional offices to drive profitable, on-time project preparation.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management and 7+ years of direct PM experience, with preference for electric utility sector experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent in engineering/construction management.
• Experience in project cost and EPC pursuit development preferred.
• Experience in budgeting, schedule management and client coordination preferred.
• Strong knowledge of PM methodologies and estimation tools.
• Demonstrated success with budgets, savings or profit margins preferred.
• Excellent communications and supervisory skills for field personnel.

Responsibilities

• Lead pricing, cost tracking, and definition development for projects.
• Coordinate between Business Line Managers, EPC-PMs and GP Manager.
• Direct early project development and pursuit efforts for effective staff utilization.
• Present monthly financial information to leadership including forecasts.
• Guide commercial negotiations and develop high-performance teams.
