Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to lead gas-fired power generation and heavy industrial projects across owner’s engineer, detailed design, and EPC scopes. You will interface with clients, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 7+ years experience, strong communication, and ability to travel to client sites and fabrication facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from an accredited program; 7 years of applicable experience.
• Experience on construction project sites or executing program management in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment and work overtime on short notice.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work collaboratively with owners, contractors, engineers, and designers in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Manage the overall planning and execution of Owner’s Engineer, detailed design, and/or EPC projects.
• Serve as primary interface between the client and project team to align objectives, priorities, risks, decisions, and performance.
• Lead proposal development, including scope, schedule, and staffing; participate in contract development and negotiations.
• Develop and implement the project execution plan.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering and design efforts coordinating with the Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, and discipline leads.
• Establish and manage project schedule, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance with project controls.
• Identify scope changes and manage change orders with clients and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with clients, permitting authorities, equipment suppliers, subcontractors, construction teams, and design leads.
• Lead procurement and subcontracting plans including bidder-list development, RFPs, bid evaluations, and award administration.
• Oversee major equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and fabrication shops; resolve technical, commercial, quality, and schedule issues.
• Direct and coordinate field engineering services and timely resolution of RFIs, field conditions, design changes, nonconformances, and construction issues.
• Manage integration of engineering, procurement, construction, turnover, commissioning, startup, and testing activities as applicable.
• Lead internal and client project meetings and prepare status reports addressing safety, quality, scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
• Foster proactive communication, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and client-focused results.
• Support development of client relationships and opportunities; assist with strategic business development.
• Other duties as assigned.
