Job summary

Johns Hopkins University - Whiting School of Engineering seeks a Sr. GCA - PreAward to provide professional level sponsored funds management for 80%+ of time, covering pre-award and post-award tasks including proposal prep, submission, budgeting, accounting, invoicing and closeout.

The role works independently on complex grants and contracts, coordinating with faculty, ORA and sponsors, ensuring compliance and accurate budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Four years of related experience in sponsored research or financial positions.
• Equivalency options per JHU policy may substitute education/experience.
• Research Administration Training Program (13-15 months) may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct complex award management activities including monitoring and reporting.
• Coordinate with faculty and ORA for application submissions to various sponsors.
• Ensure compliance with policies for pre-award process and sponsor guidelines.
• Review proposals for accuracy before forwarding for signature.
• Prepare timely budgets for PI review.
• Serve as liaison between research units, central offices, and funders.
• Review budgets and justifications for completeness.
• Support subcontract negotiations.
• Maintain updates including audits and financial reporting to PIs and leadership.
• Manage post-award processes including award setup, account setup verification, and cost transfers.
• Assist with closeouts as needed.
