Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to analyze future BES operating conditions and enable maintenance and construction of electrical facilities. You will develop models, run power-flow and stability analyses, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure grid reliability.

The role requires at least five years of relevant experience, a bachelor’s in a related field, and familiarity with power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related field is required.
• Five years of relevant work experience.
• Preference for courses in Power Systems.

Responsibilities

• Build power system models in EMS/PSSE for near-term and long-term analysis.
• Run power flow, contingency, and voltage/transient stability analyses.
• Identify outage-driven congestions and mitigation options for grid reliability and efficiency.
• Decide on approving, rescheduling, or denying outage works based on analysis.
• Coordinate outages with stakeholders on best practices and timing.
