MISO is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in the United States to analyze future BES operating conditions and determine actions for maintaining existing facilities and constructing new ones. You will perform power-flow analysis on transmission and generation levels to ensure grid reliability and will have access to industry-leading tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Coursework in Power Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build power system models in EMS/PSSE for near-term and long-term analysis.
• Run power flow, contingency, and voltage/transient stability analyses.
• Identify outage-driven congestions and mitigation options for grid reliability and market efficiency.
• Make decisions to approve, reschedule, or deny outage works based on analysis.
• Coordinate outages with stakeholders on best practices and timing.
• Lead automation projects and process improvements in a changing power system space.
• Collaborate with Real-time Operations, Market Operations, Transmission Planning, and others.
