Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator Inc. seeks a Principal Power Systems Engineer (EMS) to lead modernization of the Energy Management System and support control room reliability in the Minnesota region.

You will mentor junior engineers, bridge engineering needs with IT, and present updates to leadership while shaping EMS roadmaps, visualization, synchrophasor strategy, and training simulations to prepare for a rapidly evolving grid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology or Electrical & Computer Engineering or related field.
• At least 8 years of utility or transmission operations experience.
• Production-grade programming experience in C++ and Python.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization projects for EMS and control room modernization.
• Mentor junior engineers and bridge engineering with IT needs.
• Develop EMS roadmaps, control room visualization, synchrophasor strategy, and simulations for training.
• Present updates to leadership and collaborate with IT Architecture and Grid Operations.
