Job summary

MISO is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to analyze the Bulk Electric System (BES) and enable maintenance and construction of electrical facilities. You will perform power-flow analyses, coordinate outages, and lead system automation initiatives with multidisciplinary teams in Carmel, IN.

The role requires at least five years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s in a listed engineering field. Base salary ranges from $129,000 to $154,000 per year, with eligibility for an annual bonus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in one of the listed engineering fields.
• At least five years of relevant work experience.
• Courses in Power Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build power system models in EMS/PSSE for near-term and long-term analysis.
• Run power flow, contingency, and voltage/transient stability analyses.
• Identify outage-driven congestions and mitigation options for grid reliability.
• Coordinate outages with stakeholders on best practices and timing of outage planning.
• Collaborate on automation projects and process improvement in a changing power system.
• Work with Real-time Operations, Market Operations, Transmission Planning and others to ensure reliability.
