Job summary

MISO is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to analyze the Bulk Electric System and enable maintenance and construction of critical facilities. You will build models and run power-flow analyses to ensure reliability, coordinating outages and driving improvements with multiple teams across the organization.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and at least five years of experience in power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/energy engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in power systems engineering.
• Coursework in Power Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build power system models in EMS/PSSE for near-term and long-term analysis.
• Run power flow, contingency, and voltage/transient stability analyses.
• Identify outage-driven congestions and mitigation options for grid reliability.
• Coordinate outages with stakeholders and ensure timely planning.
• Lead automation projects and process improvements in a changing power system space.
• Collaborate with Real-time Operations, Market Operations, Transmission Planning, and others.
