Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Power System Protection Engineer for the Portland, OR area with the option to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location. The role involves electrical studies across ESSP projects, including protection and control systems, substations, and renewable integration.

You will apply expertise in protective relaying, SCADA interfaces, and NERC compliance, while mentoring staff and maintaining client relationships on multi-site projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Engineer in Training Certification required or in progress.
• Experience with design deliverables for large capital projects.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and codes.
• Ability to plan, inspect, and lead projects with QA/QC adherence.
• Willingness to travel and work in a client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical studies for utility and industrial clients.
• Analyze substations, generation facilities, and transmission systems.
• Develop protection schemes, relay settings, and SCADA integration.
• Mentor junior team members and manage small to mid-size projects.
