Job summary

WSP USA seeks an ESSP Senior Lead Protection Engineer to design and study protection systems for bulk power equipment from substations to generators. Hybrid/remote options are considered; heavy emphasis on protection software and hardware competencies.

The role involves leading teams, developing protection philosophies, and coordinating with clients across multiple offices in the U.S.; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering bachelor's degree.
• 12+ years of post-education experience in protective relaying for power systems.
• PE license or ability to obtain one.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Proven safety compliance and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Protective Relaying: relay settings and SCADA integration.
• Protection Analyses: short circuit, time-current, arc flash, NERC compliance.
• Leadership: lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Data Acquisition: on-site data collection as needed.
• Industry Standards: knowledge of IEEE/ANSI/NERC PRC standards.
• Hardware/Software: work with SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB equipment and tools.
• Ethics: adhere to Code of Conduct and company policies.
• Flexibility: adapt to changing project schedules.
