Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced Power System Protection Engineer to perform calculations and analyses supporting diverse clients. The role focuses on setting relays for HV/EHV substations, transmission lines, generators, transformers, and motors, with emphasis on NERC PRC compliance.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in protection engineering, hands-on experience with microprocessor relays (SEL/Beckwith/GE/ABB) and protection software (ETAP/SKM/Aspen). Mastery of related tools is valued.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (Power/Power Systems) required; advanced degrees preferred.
7+ years in power system protection engineering.
Experience with microprocessor-based relays (SEL, Beckwith, GE, ABB).
Experience with relay software (SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista) and protection software (ETAP, SKM, Aspen).
Experience with generator, transformer, motor protection studies, HV/EHV substations and line relaying.
NERC PRC compliance experience.

Responsibilities

Perform protection system calculations and analysis to support a wide variety of clients.
Develop relay settings for HV/EHV substations and transmission lines.
Develop relay settings for power station generators, transformers, motors, and LV protection devices.
Assist clients to comply with NERC PRC standards and analyze relaying event reports.
