Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Analytical Division. The role will focus on protection system calculations, relay settings for HV/EHV substations and transmission lines, and assisting clients with NERC PRC compliance.

This position offers a hybrid schedule with on-site and remote work. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years in protection engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power/Power Systems) required.
7+ years in power system protection engineering.
Experience with microprocessor relays (SEL, Beckwith, GE, ABB) and electro-mechanical relays.
Experience with microprocessor relay software (SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista).
Experience with Generator/Transformer/Motor protection studies.
Experience with HV/EHV substation and line relaying.
Experience with protection software ETAP/SKM/Aspen.
Experience with NERC PRC compliance evaluations.

Responsibilities

Perform protection system calculations and analysis for clients.
Develop relay settings for HV/EHV subs and transmission lines.
Develop relay settings for generators, transformers, motors and LV protection devices.
Assist clients with NERC PRC compliance evaluations.
Relaying event report analysis.
