POWERX in the United States is seeking a Senior Test Engineer (Protection & Control) to independently execute testing, commissioning, and validation across transmission, distribution, and generation substations up to 765kV. You will work with minimal supervision on protection testing, applying system-level understanding to ensure reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in high-voltage Protection & Control testing and commissioning.
• Experience commissioning substations from 12.5kV through 765kV preferred.
• Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse, or equivalent relay platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute relay protection testing using Doble, Omicron, RTS, SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista and similar platforms.
• Test and validate protection elements including line, transformer, bus, feeder, and breaker schemes.
• Perform CT/PT testing, ratio/polarity/phasing, and grounding verification independently.
• Interpret relay logic, phasors, event reports to identify abnormal conditions and report findings.
• Develop test plans, isolation/energization procedures, and ensure compliance with standards.
