Job summary

POWERX seeks a P&C Senior Test Engineer to independently perform testing, commissioning, and validation across substations up to 765kV. You will interpret relay logic, verify CT/VT behavior, and ensure system-wide protection accuracy with minimal supervision.

You’ll develop test plans, participate in energization readiness, and coach junior engineers while adhering to safety and industry standards. Texas-based on-site role with opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in high-voltage protection & control testing and commissioning.
• Experience commissioning substations from 12.5kV through 765kV preferred.
• Familiarity with major relay platforms (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, Westinghouse).
• OSHA 30 or higher preferred; NEC/OSHA knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute relay protection testing using listed platforms.
• Test and validate protection elements and schemes on complex configurations.
• Perform CT/PT testing incl. ratio, polarity, phasing, and grounding checks.
• Interpret relay logic and event data to identify abnormal conditions.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, and ensure documents reflect full protection schemes.
• Mentor junior engineers and support safety and quality standards.
