Job summary

Blue Origin in the United States is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to own the Dual Voltage Distribution Box design for the spacecraft EPS, driving from requirements through qualification and production release at constellation scale.

You will balance space-grade reliability with cost and manufacturability targets, lead hardware qualification campaigns, and coordinate with systems, thermal, harness, and avionics teams to deliver high‑reliability power distribution solutions for space

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 7+ years hands-on electronics hardware development experience.
  • Design experience with power distribution architectures—SSPCs, relay switching, overcurrent protection, fault isolation—in spacecraft or high-reliability applications.
  • Multi-voltage/dual-bus systems above 50V with load management, in-rush mitigation, and switch sequencing.
  • Hands-on hardware qualification campaign leadership per MIL-STD-1540, SMC-S-016, ECSS-E-ST-10-03, or equivalent.
  • Experience with radiation-tolerant/hardened designs and TID analysis for space environments.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible status for access to export-controlled data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead circuit design for the Dual Voltage Distribution Box, SSPCs, relay switching, protection, and fault isolation across two voltage domains.
  • Define load switch sequencing and fault response in coordination with Fault Management and C&DH teams.
  • Own DVDB telemetry architecture and avionics interfaces for health monitoring and commanding.
  • Derive DVDB hardware requirements, ICDs, and design specs with systems engineering and adjacent subsystems.
  • Drive FMEA/FMECA activities and single-point fault elimination in the design.
  • Optimize DVDB for high-rate manufacturing with DFM/DFT and unit cost targets.
  • Define and transition Automated Test Equipment (ATE) from development to production.
  • Develop hardware qualification plans to MIL-STD-1540, lead anomaly investigations and resolutions.
  • Serve as technical authority during vehicle integration and flight acceptance testing.
  • Maintain complete DVDB design package in PLM with schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, drawings, and analyses.
