Job summary

LG Magna e-Powertrain USA, Inc. in Troy, MI is expanding its team and seeks a highly motivated Power Electronics Engineer to drive electric vehicle powertrain development.

You will collaborate with customers and HQ to deploy advanced technologies from our Headquarters Engineering Center and deliver robust solutions. The role requires a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering and 5+ years in automotive development, with expertise in power electronics, converters, inverters, and circuit analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering is required.
• A minimum 5-year experience of development engineering in the automotive industry or related industry
• Experience in the practical applications of power electronics engineering; including converter and inverter technologies
• Skill in reading electrical schematics, control system configurations, and standardized work instructions
• Proficient skills to use equipment for circuit analysis, such as an oscilloscope, function generator and power supply
• Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules for communication with stakeholders in different time zones

Responsibilities

• Guide the development of customer technical communication to ensure correct and meaningful customer requirements are understood by internal colleagues.
• Attend Regular PDT meetings and urgent meetings to understand issues arising during development and mass production.
• Provide clear recommendations to HQ development by collaborating with Regional Directors and Lead Engineers for customer requirements.
• Create and maintain engineering specifications, DFMEAs, DPVRs throughout development.
• Support APQP, DFM/DFA, and IATF 16949 compliance, including defining critical characteristics.
• Provide on-site engineering support at customer locations for tasks like software reflash and sample delivery.
• Lead root cause analysis of warranty products and communicate findings to HQ and global teams.
• Lead technical risk reporting and communicate with HQ and cross-functional teams.
• Create technical information for RFQ/RFP stages and act as the lead technical window with customers and HQ.
