Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Lead Consultant in Ports and Marine Engineering to join the National Maritime Practice Group. The role focuses on leadership in port/marine design, project development, and construction excellence across multiple offices including Irvine and San Diego, CA.

The candidate will manage multidisciplinary teams, produce plans and cost estimates, and lead risk mitigation while delivering high-quality engineering documentation and client presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 7–10 years of marine project design experience.
• Proficiency in SAP2000 or similar FEM software; reinforced concrete and steel design.
• Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT; BIM tools experience.
• Marine project experience with multidisciplinary team coordination.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Self-leadership with multitasking in dynamic environments.
• Uphold workplace safety and company policies; travel may be required.
• Flexibility to work schedules beyond typical workweeks.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for engineering tasks using data from sites, surveys, reports and drawings.
• Lead development of construction plans, schedules, specs, and cost estimates.
• Manage cross-functional teams; track budgets and milestone progress.
• Write technical reports with sketches, calculations and drawings.
• Guide staff engineers in higher-order design techniques for marine projects.
• Assist with advanced FEM analyses and structural design of marine structures.
• Prepare and monitor project budgets, staffing and timelines.
• Present findings to internal teams and clients; interact with agencies and clients.
• Adhere to safety, ethical standards and company policies; complete trainings.
