Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Consultant, Ports and Marine Engineering to join the National Maritime Practice Group. The role is based in offices in Irvine/San Diego, CA; Miami/Tampa, FL; Raleigh, NC; or Houston, TX, with leadership of port/marine projects.

The candidate will guide multidisciplinary teams on design, construction, and inspection of piers, seawalls, marinas, and related facilities, ensuring safety, quality and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited program and PE licensure.
7–10 years of marine engineering design experience including rehabilitation and new design.
Experience with SAP2000 or equivalent FEM; AutoCAD and REVIT; BIM tools.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating design/construction documents.
Strong technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for data collection, analysis, and reporting from site surveys, technical reports, and drawings.
Lead development of construction plans, schedules, specifications, and cost estimates for ports and marine projects.
Manage cross-functional teams across multiple projects; track budgets and milestones.
Prepare PS&E submissions and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
Apply marine engineering standards, assess risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
Provide high-level technical assistance on advanced analyses and seismic/structural modelling.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients; ensure compliance and safety.
Monitor staffing, budgets, and project timelines; support business needs.
