Job summary

Hartford Steam Boiler is seeking a Senior Portfolio Underwriter to steer the largest client relationships, expand product usage, and optimize profitability. You will collaborate with Product Managers and the Underwriting Lead to apply advanced analytics for rate adequacy and loss trend identification.

You will present insights and financial results to clients and internal teams, and exercise binding underwriting authority to influence P&L outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• 7+ years of P&C insurance/reinsurance experience with 5+ years in underwriting preferred.
• Strong understanding of commercial/personal lines and rate development.
• Ability to translate large data analyses into actionable decisions.
• Experience with negotiation and developing creative underwriting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio management for the largest client relationships to drive profit and growth.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Underwriting Lead to optimize product performance.
• Use diagnostic and predictive analytics to inform rate adequacy, price segmentation and loss trends.
• Present financial results and rate assessments clearly to clients and teams.
• Underwrite with binding authority and influence the portfolio's P&L outcomes.
