Job summary

The Hartford Steam Boiler, a Munich Re subsidiary, seeks a Senior Portfolio Underwriter to lead profitable portfolio management from remote or Hartford CT office. You’ll apply advanced analytics to optimize pricing, segmentation, and loss trends, while presenting results to clients and internal teams.

With binding authority for underwriting decisions, you’ll influence P&L and drive growth across key client relationships, collaborating with Product Managers and the Underwriting Lead.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent work experience required.
• 7+ years of P&C insurance/reinsurance experience.
• 5+ years in underwriting preferred.
• Understanding of commercial and personal lines insurance to drive profitability.
• Ability to translate large data analysis into actionable decisions.
• Understanding of rate development (pure premium), price segmentation & loss trends.
• Experience with responsibility for achieving profit and growth targets for a book of business.
• Experience with negotiation and conflict resolution.
