Job summary

GPAC is seeking an Experienced Estimator for a leading commercial mechanical construction firm in Glendale, AZ. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in plumbing/HVAC estimating and excels at reading blueprints, reviewing specs, and pricing major projects.

You will prepare detailed takeoffs, negotiate with subs, and support the transition to project management, collaborating with the VP of Estimating on databases and bid strategies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial plumbing/HVAC estimating experience.
• 5+ years in commercial construction estimating.
• Ability to read blueprints, specs and construction docs.
• Extensive knowledge of plumbing, piping and mechanical installs.
• Strong math, analytical and organizational skills.
• Excel proficiency; familiarity with estimating software; Quicken/estimating experience preferred.
• Excellent negotiation and communication, especially during scope reviews.
• Journeyman Plumber or HVAC license, or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed job takeoffs and pricing for commercial plumbing and mechanical projects.
• Obtain, review, and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Collaborate with the VP of Estimating to maintain estimating databases and spreadsheets.
• Help transition projects from estimating to project management.
• Lead and finalize estimates, including preparing scope letters.
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams.
