Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a Senior PLC Technician for Data Center Power Systems. You will lead pre-startup, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of paralleling switchgear and PLC controls in mission-critical power environments.

Remote work in the United States with up to 80% regional travel. You will mentor junior staff, coordinate complex field activities, and serve as a technical interface for customers and project teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 7+ years of field experience or an associate/bachelor degree with 5+ years in a related field.
• Independent field capability on highly complex assignments is required.
• Experience with low/medium voltage switchgear, paralleling switchgear, and generator controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute complex field assignments including paralleling switchgear during pre-startup, startup, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Lead testing of emergency power systems, transfers, load add/shed, and generator paralleling.
• Configure and troubleshoot generator controls, PLC/ACS platforms, HMIs, and communications.
• Perform advanced PLC ladder logic modifications following approved documentation and change control.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians and support on-site execution and safety practices.
