ABB in the United States is seeking a Senior PLC Technician for Data Center Power Systems to lead field startup, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of paralleling switchgear and controls in mission-critical power environments.

The role requires independent field leadership, coordination of on-site teams, and frequent travel up to 80% with remote work options. You will mentor junior engineers and deliver clear field reports and customer updates.

Competenze

• 7+ years field experience or 5+ years with a related degree.
• Independent field capability on highly complex assignments.
• Advanced experience with low/medium voltage switchgear and paralleling switchgear.
• Hands-on startup and commissioning leadership under schedule pressure.
• Ability to read and redline electrical/control drawings and apply engineering methods in the field.
• Strong analytical and customer communication skills; leadership in the field.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the United States and stay at sites as needed.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States without ABB sponsorship.

Mansioni

• Plan, organize, and execute complex field assignments involving paralleling switchgear and PLC/Relay schemes.
• Lead testing of emergency/standby power systems and transfer sequences.
• Configure and troubleshoot generator controls, PLCs, HMIs, and communications.
• Perform advanced PLC ladder logic modifications using approved change controls.
• Establish and troubleshoot Modbus, PLC-to-PLC, remote PLC, and SCADA communications.
• Interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and sequencing documents.
• Lead on-site execution, coordinate daily work, and manage punch-lists and risks.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians on safe execution and documentation.
• Act as senior escalation resource for remote/on-site troubleshooting.
• Complete field service reports, checklists, and customer updates.
• Protect ABB assets, manage costs, and identify quality improvements.
• Build customer relationships with clear actions, risks, and recovery plans.
